Monica Oliphant AO
Monica Oliphant has a background in Physics and worked 18 years for South Australian electricity utility, ETSA, as a Research Scientist. She was President of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) 2008/09 and a Vice President of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) since 2021. She is active in the IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency) Coalition for Action being on the Steering Group in 2020, 2021 and 2023, 2024 and actively engaged in other Coalition Taskforce working groups. She is Patron of crowd funding initiative CORENA – Citizens Own Renewable Energy Network Australia and also of the South Australian Energy Industry Past Employees Association. She is also a member of other energy related and social service committees, including, SACOSS (South Australian Council of Social Service - Energy and Water Group) and the Rotary Club of Adelaide where she was a past Director of International Service. Monica is also Patron of The Oliphant Science Awards and The Mark Oliphant Conservation Park.
Monica received an Order of Australia (AO) in 2015 and was 2016 Senior South Australian of the Year. In 2018 she received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of South Australia. She has 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren.
